Not only is this project not needed, but it will bring more traffic to our neighborhood and bring unwanted new development.
The only "residents" who might be in favor are landowners of land who want the taxpayers to subsidize development of that land. "They" will make a tidy profit, and the rest of us will be stuck with more traffic, higher taxes to build infrastructure and schools, and decreased home values.
A large part of the charm of Red Bridge is indeed the Red Bridge, and the winding road across the bridge and through our park. We do not need nor want a soaring HIGHway transplanted from the I-435 interchange to our neighborhood, from which we will no longer see the Red Bridge or the park.
Enlightened neighborhoods in Kansas City and across the country are saying NO to projects that increase population density and traffic, and decrease quality of life and property values. We are too smart to play into the hands of the special interests who are playing us for fools.
Say no to this ill-conceived project.
Say yes to projects that increase quality of life and property values in our city.
