This stimulates the economy by creating a number of jobs for direct employees, and further safeguarding jobs among suppliers of materials to the project. Those workers pay taxes and spend their income and the economy is healthier as a result.

With all of today's economic woes, why on earth would NY even consider a $1,000,000.00 Indoor Soccer Field? If they want to receive grant monies for projects, they would be far better off promoting community gardens, green spaces, and such, that will have a bigger impact on all people, not just a chosen few players. IMHO, we are spending far too much money on sporting events as it is. Just look at some of the contracts for footballplayers, boxers, and such.
And this stimulates the economy how?
