[edit] Points in Favor
Given that a portion of the proposed route was built and abandoned a long time ago and that the project mainly consists of expanding existing street grids to handle a higher vehicle demand, it is argued that the project would not take a considerable amount of construction to complete.
In addition, the project would alleviate heavy traffic on Shelburne Road, Flynn Ave, and Main Street (currently the primary access to downtown). The project would save travelers money by reducing time and fuel wasted in traffic and would reduce the amount of environmental pollutants by reducing stalled traffic.
[edit] Points Against
Some say the project would do nothing but fuel more automobile use and would create more traffic problems in the long run as travelers would not seek alternatives because they would view the area as being easy to travel.
In addition, it is theorized that the project would reduce area housing values and cause environmental and public safety harm due to a defacto increase in traffic in the area.
