Award Description: The Sumner County Sheriffs Office All in One program is funded through the ARRA. The purpose of this program is to enhance and obtain needed equipment for our office to be able to perform tasks more efficiently. The ARRA grant is allowing our agency to purchase needed equipment and upgrade existing equipment. The grant is allowing us to enhance our current prisoner re-entry program called the 'Homeward Bound' program. We will use funds for overtime pay to target areas of the county for traffic related enforcement in order to reduce crashes and to save lives on the roads of Sumner County. The grant will allow us to purchase needed training equipment for our officers to use. There will be supplies, textbooks, and computers purchased for the homeward bound program. This will help the inmates who are qualified to be in the program. Homeward Bound teaches inmates skills in order to re-enter society and become productive members. This will cut down on recidivism of inmates and crimes. The overall goal of this program is to enhance and upgrade equipment, help employees perform tasks more efficiently, enhance public safety, and reduce recidivism in the jail.
Project Description: Due to oue Local Budget not being passed until 9-28-09, our project has not started. Since the budget had not been passed we were on a limited budget and could not start any new purchases. The budget was passed and our program will now be implemented.
