Award Description: Project Title: Response to Active Shooter Training Project Goals: ?« Certify at least two sworn personnel as Simunition FX Scenario and Safety Instructors. ?« Hold at least one ¡§Response to Active Shooter¡¨ trainings annually utilizing the certified instructors. ?« Utilize the grant funded equipment during the annual training listed above. ?« Develop and implement department-wide building search training utilizing the grant funded equipment and training. ?« Develop and implement department-wide felony stop training utilizing the grant funded equipment and training. ?« Implement these trainings on an annual basis throughout the life cycle of the grant and well into the future. Strategies to be used: The Palm Springs Police Department seeks to utilize this training and equipment in order to improve the safety and tactics in response to acts of violence within the Village. The overall strategy is to gain the knowledge and training necessary to train all department personnel to a level of proficiency to reduce injury and/or death to civilians and law enforcement personnel. Holding these trainings annually with the funded equipment will allow officers to increase and maintain this level of proficiency, insuring the safety of all involved in response to incidents of violence.
