Award Description: The goal of ARRA IDS fund usage is to expand access for our target population through a number of actions, including 1) expansion of clinic hours at existing sites where space is available (medical and dental), 2) expansion of pharmacy services through hiring additional pharmacy personnel, 3) expansion of outreach efforts to vulnerable populations, 4) retaining a van driver to keep transportation services in place, 5) adding a float provider to cover open clinic sessions, and 6) the addition of a portable dentistry unit for outreach to and services for school-aged children.
Project Description: As a result of the ARRA IDS funding, Vista Community Clinic has seen 1,058 new medical/dental service patients, 755 of whom are uninsured, and has performed 7,976 medical/dental patients visits. Additionally, funded outreach workers have reached 530 new patients, all uninsured, and have performed 1,215 enabling visits. The organization has started a portable dentistry program for outreach to and services for school-aged children in need of dental care, and has reached 647 new patients with this program, 500 of whom are uninsured.
