Award Description: We are in the process of implementing the following: This action awards a cost-of-living adjustment increase of 1.84% in the amount of $17,047 for Early Head Start. These funds will be obligated to pay for staff salaries over the 12 month period following the effective date of the grant. This action also awards quality improvement funds of $45,390 for Head Start. These funds will be used to improve the program in several ways. One by hiring an Information Specialist that will provide technical assistance to the field and will train staff on new ChildPlus.net program while also providing on-going coaching throughout the year. Two by implementing a new English Language Development Plan for Head Start. Three by hiring a Family Support Services Supervisor who will be a skilled and knowledable management level individual which will provide support to the family support team with the growth in enrollment expected this year. Four by providing leadership training. Five by providing the Early Head Start staff with RIE Mentor Support. The Early Head Start Staff will be taking coursework in the Resources for Infant Educarers and research indicates that to best implement a change in curriculum requires on-going mentorship for the care givers learning about something new. A 12 month plan to coach and mentor the teaching team through this way of working with infants and toddlers will be implemented.

Information Specialist - individual skilled in computer technology to help with the transition of the existing data program to a new web-based ChildPlus.net program that the HS/EHS will be utilizing in the upcoming year. This position will provide technical assistance to the field and will train staff on this new program and on-going coaching provided through the year. 2. Family Support Services Supervisor - In anticipation of the growth and new slots that HS/EHS will be applying for, a skilled and knowledgeable managment level individual will be created to support the Family Support team with this growth in enrollment in this upcoming year.
