Award Description: Project Title: Spring Mountains National Recreation Area Deferred Trails Maintenance - The overall purpose of this award is to complete trail maintenance and reconstruction on identified trails in the SMNRA. Maintenance activities will include logging out fallen trees, brushing, tread repair, and tread definition, maintaining or reconstructing trail structures, and installing signs. Structures include but are not limited to: waterbars, drain dips, inside/outside rock and log retaining walls, culverts, riprap, rock and timber stairways, switchbacks and backslope.
Project Description: Once started, this funding award will support five major tasks identified to support trail maintenance and reconstruction at the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (SMNRA): 1. Logging out down timber/clearing the trail corridor 2. Brushing/pruning 3. Tread Repair 4. Tread definition/cairn placement 5. Erosion control Additional maintenance tasks may include replacing signs or trail markers, installing drainage structures, or maintaining creek crossing.
