Award Description: This program provides assistance to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Victims are provided with transitional housing, including rent, utilities and other physical needs, as well as support services. This program meets the goals of the Recovery Act through employing victim advocates and other personnel to assist victims, completing safety and handicap accessibility renovations to agency-owned transitional housing apartments, increasing the level of service in the program by offering two additional housing units, and increasing job opportunities for victims through training, education, and other support services.
Project Description: In this quarter, one new client was referred, interviewed and accepted into the program. The security deposit, monthly rent and utilities were paid. The client engaged in supportive services, including case management and individual and group counseling. This client was also assisted in the process of applying for child support and accompaniment for court hearings. Other services were also provided, such as transportation passes. Supportive services were also provided to the other clients in the transitional housing program. This grant paid for a portion of staff salaries for staff dedicated to this program.
