Award Description: ARRA - Increase Services to Health Centers
Project Description: To date, New Horizon has recruited an additional 4.5 FTEs to complete our staffing plan as described in our grant application. In March 2009, two retained positions - Data Entry (0.5 FTE) and Facilities Technician (0.5 FTE) - each were restored to a full 1.0 FTE. New Scheduler positions (2.0 FTEs) were filled in late July and early August 2009. A Patient Resource Specialist (1.0 FTE) and a Pharmacy Technician (0.5 FTE) were hired at the Downtown location in early September 2009. We are actively recruiting to staff the remaining positions (4.25 FTEs) as outlined in our grant application. Extended hours of operation 4 days per week began at the Downtown location as of August 3, 2009 along with extended pharmacy hours 2 days per week. We will expand pharmacy hours of operation to 4 days per week once an additional pharmacist is recruited (Phase I). Also, we are on track to begin extended hours and expanded medical capacity at our Travelers Rest location beginning October 1, 2009 (Phase 2). We have not yet set a target date to add another half-day per week of extended hours and expanded medical capacity at our Downtown location (Phase 3). Steady unemployment across the region has resulted in a significant increase in the number of newly uninsured patients seen at all of our locations.
