Award Description: This project is to repair the raceway headbox and walkway in 'C Deck at the Quilcene National Fish Hatchery (NFH). The concrete headbox structure, which serves nine 8’ x 80’ raceways, is severely deteriorated. Metal channels that provide support to the concrete headbox and hold wooden dam boards in place are also in an advanced stage of deterioration. This situation threatens the performance and structural integrity of the concrete headbox. Demolish and rebuild existing concrete headbox and appurtenances as needed. Demolish at least 2 feet of each raceway wall along with headbox demolition. Demolish the existing concrete headbox cover. Extend the grip-strut walkway on each raceway wall in such a manner that USFW personnel can safely step from the headbox walkway to the raceway wall walkway. Fabricate and install new stainless steel channels for the wooden stop logs. The design of these channels shall be similar those at the bottom of the raceway. Provide and install non-slip fiberglass grating for the new headbox cover. The elevation of the surface of the new grating is to the same as the old concrete cover. The grating installation shall allow easy access to the water valves in the headbox. The scope of this work is to include all engineering and design work.
