Award Description: AmeriCorps members will be assisting in classrooms as literacy tutors and will be working with project sponsors on conservation projects across the state.
Project Description: AmeriCorps members will recruit, train and manage at least 450 volunteers who will tutor at least 475 students and will monitor student progress toward improving their reading skills, track volunteer hours and count the number of students who are tutored. AmeriCorps members will be recruiting approximately 125 volunteers, presenting educational materials to students, and increasing capacity of non-profit project sponsors focusing on environmental issues. They will also be utilized as conservation field crews throughout the state
