Award Description: The purpose of this award is to assist the grantee in carrying out a national service program as authorized by the National and Community Service Act of 1990, as amended (42 U.S.C. §12501 et seq.) and in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
Project Description: Through the first reporting quarter (Feb 17 – Sept 30), programs have served approximately 1,154 citizens in Pennsylvania communities through activities such as Academic Coaching and/or Tutoring for school-age children; Community Renovations or New Construction to benefit local residents; Summer Day Camps for youth; and Health and Wellness Programs that benefit senior citizens.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery Act funding, 160 positions (99.93 FTEs) have been filled. Positions include literact coaches, summer camp counselors, youth mentors, service-learning coordinators, academic tutors, and community service program planners. (Total jobs reported: 100)
