Project Description: Armory Teaching Artists retained to provide arts instruction to low-income residents through the Armory's community outreach program, 'Armory Artists in the Community.' Specifically, funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 will support five teaching artist positions in the Armory Center for the Arts' 'Artists in the Community' program. Taught by professional artists, the program delivers approximately 1,200 hours of free art classes and workshops year-round at 13 neighborhood locations. Each year, the 'Artists in the Community' program serves approximately 5,500 low-income children, youth and families.
