Award Description: Grant - The purpose of this award is to assist the grantee in carrying out a national service program as authorized by the National and Community Service Trust Act of 1990, as amended (42 U.S.C. Section 12501 et seq.) and in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Project Description: Due to Recovery funding, 171 AmerCorps positions were successfully retained with 8 subgrantees being able to continue providing services to address unmet community needs in the areas of environmental restoration, education, child abuse prevention, and self-sufficiency skills development for homeless individuals. In addition, 3 new programs created and retained 143 AmeriCorps positions to serve in 2009-10. Member activities also include building volunteer infrastructure for 72 nonprofit organizations that will result in 8,750 volunteers recruited and an additional 7,000 clients served.

Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained 248.37 AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and retained 20 AmeriCorps staff positions. (Total jobs reported: 268)
