Award Description: Government Services Fund-for public safety and other government services, which may include assistance for elementary and secondary education and public institutions of higher education, and for modernization, renovation, or repair of public school facilities and institutions of higher education facilities, including modernization, renovation, and repairs that are consistent with a recognized green building rating.
Project Description: ARRA funds were used to cover payroll expenditures within the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation adult prison unit resulting in the retention of 18,229 employees (correctional officers, medical staff, executive and administrative personnel) working in 33 adult prison facilities throughout the state.
Jobs Summary: AARA funds were provided in lieu of State General fund to cover payroll expenditures in adult prison facilities. The number of Correctional Officers retained with ARRA Funds was calculated using the mid-step salary range for a Correctional Officer. This does not include additional overtime payments or benefits related to the position. Salary ranges were taken from the 2009-10 Salaries and Wages document published by the Department of Finance.
