Award Description: To support Arts projects and activities which preserve jobs in the nonprofit arts sector threatened by declines in philanthropic and other support during the current economic downturn.
Project Description: Award program developed. Peer panels reviewed applications. Grants committee recommended subgrants for salary support. Subgrants preserved 16 full and part time positions at 16 arts organizations and 1 contracted service position to assist agency staff with the program. The State of NJ advances funds which are then reimbursed when the Council draws down funds semi-annually from the NEA. To date the Council has not drawn down NEA ARRA funds but will shortly.
