Award Description: Basic Energy Sciences - Nanoscale Science Research Centers - (Project Code 2005040) Capital Equipment funds are provided to update, upgrade, or expand capabilities of the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies Facility to conduct leading-edge science and serve users. This includes High-Performance Computer Cluster, Atomic Layer Deposition System Imaging Microscope, Multi-Photon Laser Scanning Confocal and Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging Microscope, and a High resolution X-ray diffraction instrument with small angle X-ray scattering, non-ambient conditions, thin-film, and microdiffraction capabiltities, Low Pressure Chemical Vapor Deposition/Diffusion Furnace, and Multi-Functional Interfacial Force Microscope. Milestones:Milestone 1: Fiscal Year 2009 (FY09) end of 4th quarter, Measure for Milestone 1: All instrument specifications completed, reviewed, and submitted to procurement organization. Milestone 2: FY10 end of 1st quarter, Measure for Milestone 2: One or more instrument orders awarded to vender(s). Milestone 3: FY10 end of 2nd quarter, Measure for Milestone 3: All instrument orders awarded to venders. Milestone 4: FY10 end of 3rd quarter, Measure for Milestone 4: One or more instruments received and available for use. Milestone 5: FY10 end of 4th quarter, Measure for Milestone 1: All instruments received and available for use.
Project Description: The reporting structure for the Nanoscale Science Research Centers capital equipment purchases was in place and funds obligated by the Department of Energy (DOE) by 06/30/2009. Milestone 1 was completed on schedule. All instrument specifications were completed, reviewed and submitted to procurement by 09/30/2009.
