Award Description: This is a FY 2009 ARRA funded Section 5307 grant for transit capital improvements to the Gwinnett County transit system. The purpose of this grant application is to secure 100% ARRA funding for TIP projects AR-5307A-GW, Transit Vehicle Purchase which will provide for replacement of two paratransit vehicles (the vehicles being replaced have met their useful life. A federal ratio of 100/0 will apply) These buses will meet the CAA and the ADA requirements; AR-5307A-GW, Transit Vehicle Purchase of Mid Life Overhaul which provides for the mid-life overhaul of 28 CNG buses; AR-5307A-GW, Miscellaneous/Other - Transit Technology / Security project which provides for the purchase of bus/facility security cameras, bus AVL & passenger information systems, and paratransit scheduling & management software; and AR-5307A-GW, Transit Enhancements which provides for the construction of pedestrian access/walkways, transit connections to parks, and signage.
Project Description: Gwinnett County awarded a contract to W.W. Williams Southeast, Inc on September 1st for the reconditioning (mid-life engine overhaul) of 28 Orion VII buses with vehicle delivery occurring next quarter. We are also moving forward with the purchase of 2 paratransit vans that we intend to acquire by using a Georgia Department of Administrative Services state contract in the next quarter. Additionally we have been developing the scope of work for next quarter’s issuance of a Request for Proposal for electronic bus departure/arrival signage and bus/facility camera surveillance systems.
