Award Description: The purpose of the OH-19 Dual Enrollment ARRA National Emergency Grant is to provide employment and training services to workers impacted by several auto industry dislocations and plant closures.
Project Description: In June of 2009, $2,083,367 was allocated to the local areas with events included in the NEG. Since that time, the State has been enhancing SCOTI to comply with reporting requirements for the stimulus programs and this is now completed. Four regional NEG training sessions were conducted in June, instructing local areas on requirements of the grant, financial and program reporting requirements, how to request additional funds, and how to notify the State of any new auto-related events that could be part of a grant modification to USDOL. As of today, approx 450 participants have been reported and local areas continue to enter participants who enrolled at the time the reporting system was not available. Coordination with the Trade program is occurring at the State and local level for wrap around services to eligible participants. In August 2009, the State received requests for additional funds from 9 local areas totaling over $8 million. These requests are currently under review and funds will be allocated over the next few weeks. Four of these local areas have not received any allocations under the grant thus far. Training and communication with the local areas are ongoing in order to ensure that all entities are aware of the available resources to serve Ohio's automotive dislocated workers.
Jobs Summary: There were no jobs reported as created or retained due to the OH-19 Automotive NEG. This is an indication that the staff working on this project would likely have been retained even in the absence of this award. As this project continues to expand with the additional lay off events and project operators, we expect the project will result in some degree of job created and retained. (Total jobs reported: 0)
Project Status: Less Than 50% Completed
