Award Description: The objectivies of this initative are to strengthen and expand State and Local Governmental energy assurance planning and resillency efforts by incorporating response actions fornew energy portfolios and Smart Grid applications; create jobs, and build in-house State and Local Government energy assurance expertise. The initative focuses on building regional energy assurance capability to allow the State to better co-ordinate and communicate state - wide and with one another on energy security, reliability and emergency response issues.
Project Description: The Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy is working with the Division of Purchasing and Suppy to develop an RFP to be used to solicit proposals to accomplish improving the Commonwealths Energy security and electricity reliablility.We expect to have an RFP on the street by the end of October, responses returned by the end of November and an award mady by the middle of January 2010. The DMME proposes to engage the services of a consultant and partner with various Commonwealth of Virginia agencies, local governments, private companies and other states to develop a reasonable and effective Energy Assurance Plan what will meet the requirements of this initative.
