Project Description: With the CIP funding, Choptank Community Health System, Inc. (CCHS) is renovating and expanding the Denton Administration Building to adequately house all central administrative functions in one location. The CIP project involves construction of a two story, 8500 square foot addition to an existing two story, 3700 square foot office building. CCHS owns the property with the existing administrative building and the adjacent property designated for the expansion. CCHS began the bid process in August 2009. Advertisements for bids were placed in the local paper for three weeks beginning on 8/16/09 and concluding 8/30/09. Sealed bids were opened publicly on 9/10/09. There were eight bids received from contractors. CCHS chose the lowest bid from Harper & Sons, Inc. CCHS received a NGA dated 9/21/09 which stating that all grant conditions had been lifted, therefore construction can begin. The architectural firm CCHS is using is Davis, Bowen & Friedel, Inc. Most of the schematic design phase, design development phase, and construction document phase took place prior to February 17, 2009 and therefore are not considered part of the CIP Project. The bidding and negotiation phase took place during the past quarter; however, the invoice for architectural services was not received or paid until after September 30, 2009. These funds will be reported in the next Quarterly Report, as CCHS is reporting on a cash basis. CCHS anticipates that the Notice to Proceed will be issued by the architectural firm during the week of October 12, 2009. Construction will begin at that time.
