Award Description: ARRA - Capital Improvement Program. The purpose of this equipment only grant award is to expand the recipient's data center in order to accommodate more concurrent users of the EMR system, which is offered, using an ASP model, to health centers and potentially to private practices. The data center expansion will include the purchase of higher capacity servers, virtualization of the Citrix environment, and broadband internet access to prospective users of the EMR system.
Project Description: The purpose of this grant award is to expand the capacity of the recipient's data center infrastructure. The expanded capacity is in the form of new, more powerful servers, which will enable more concurrent users to use the system. The expanded capacity is being added in order to provide hosting services to additional health centers who wish to employ the Electronic Medical Record system available at BVCHC. The expected result will enable BVCHC to host approximately 12 additional health centers.
