Award Description: This award will promote economic recovery in areas of the city that are continuing to decline. Sidewalk infrastructure improvements will provide long-term economic benefits and promote transit oriented development and mixed use development in urban villages. Sidewalks will conincide with mass transit routes. Ninety percent (90%) of the grant will be spent in areas where at least fifty-one percent (51%) of the residents are low and moderate income.
Project Description: Project overview: The purpose of the project is to provide sidewalk infrastructure in CDBG eligible census tracts/blocks groups throughout the City of Fort Worth. The project will contribute significantly to the creation of a pedestrian friendly environment and will enhance safety by separating pedestrians from vehicular traffic. The City will install approximately 19.01 linear miles of sidewalk in CDBG eligible areas. The construction contract is expected to be executed by November, 2009 and should be completed within 36 months from the date of grant agreement execution.
Infrastructure Description: The purpose of this project is to assist those most impacted by the recession, provide investment needed to increase economic effeciency, invest in transportation and environmental protection that will provide long-term economic benefits.
