Award Description: Community Development. This infrastructure project supports our 2005-2009 Consolidated Plan Priority #3 to protect and preserve neighborhoods as the basic building block of a community through improving public sidewalks and curbs within the identified 19 CT HUD Treatment Area. The priject area selected for sidewalk and curb replacement is in a CT where 83.3% of the residents are low-to-moderate income.. We will replace 8,975 linear feet of sidewalks, incliding 35 sidewalk ramps at sidewalk intersections. By investing in this infrastructure p[roject, we will retain and support construction and related jobs, including is.retaining approximately 5 1/2 FTE construction related jobs during the duration of the project. Completion of the job will result in safer pedestrian traffic, a reduction in slum and blight in a targetted area, an increase in economic opportuniies and an aesthetic benefit to the project area.
Project Description: The Eastside Infrastructure Project will tear out and replace 8,975 linear feet of public sidewalk and 35 sidewalk ramps in a HUD Treatment Area CT where 83.3% of residents are low--to-moderate income. The end result will be safer pedestrian walkways, job retention, removal of a blighted aspect and an overall economic benefit to the area.
