Award Description: ARRA Head Start Expansion
Project Description: PROJECT DESCRIPTION 1. Develop 118 new Head Start spaces for children and their families and prepared facilities to meet licensing requirements and other regulations 2. Develop a model inclusion program 3. Recruit, hire and train a total of 7 new FTE staff for new classrooms 4. Work with community partners to leverage existing state and local resources QUARTERLY ACTIVITIES 1. Recruited children and fully enrolled all 118 funded slots 2. Worked with families in preparation of program start date of October 1, 2009 3. Teaching staff prepared the classroom for licensing 4. Worked with partner agencies to ensure full enrollment for October 1, 2009 5. Collaborated with Special Education program to establish an Inclusion classroom 6. Trained staff to open new classrooms 7. Developed contracts with partner agencies to reflect funding levels
