Award Description: Development of two new courses - population genetics and modern approaches to the epidemiology and control of infestious diseases for inclusion in the MBRS RISE curriculum thereby introducing five new courses and the establishment of an Associate Professorship. We Applied zoology to instruct the two new courses. Goal 1. Provide professional development opportunities to students in the giomedical sciences in the Department of Natural Sciences at UMES. Goal 2. Enhance the academic prepartation of DNS students through the introduction of three new courses.

Project Description: The purpose of the project is to hire a full time 9 month faculty member. The grant was initiated on 09/18/09. A job description is being prepared and the hiring process has been initiated.

Infrastructure Description: To create a new position of Assistant Professor of Applied Zoology for the purpose of enhancing the MBRS RISE course offerings.
