Award Description: This is a request for an administrative supplement to NIAAA grant R01 AA016789. The requested amount is for purchase of the core components of a new model Laser Microdissection System for my lab. A Laser Microdissection System is needed for Aim 3 of this grant. Although an older model is available on campus, it lacks more recent technological advancements that improve speed and funcitonal precision, and is housed in a different building about a mile from my laboratory. Consistent with the goals of funding notice NOT-OD-09-058 and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 20009, a new system will significantly speed the tempo of the mRNA expression work outlined in Aim 3 of the parent grant.
