Award Description: This award provides fund to support research activities outlined in the K-23 Childhood Cancer Survivors Program to Empower Action in Care. The funds will support work to be complete by contract with the Health Communication Research Lab at Washington University. This organization has expertise in design and development of health education materials. They will work with Dr. Sharp closely to develop the materials for the intervention outlined in the K-23. They will produce an initial draft to be tested as part of Aim 2in the project and revisions will be completed prior to Aim 3 which is the randomized controlled trial of the intervention. In addition, one computer will be obtained with the funds and a part time research coordinator will be hired as a retention.
Project Description: The money was just recently awarded and an account is not yet set up. We have approval and are working on retaining an individual in our department who has accepted the position. Dr. Sharp has had two conference calls with the team at the Health Communication Research Laboratory. We are defined a timeline for the work that fits with the goals of the K award.
