Award Description: Increased Services for Health Centers. Used to hire additional provider time and increase capacity by running extended hours and more Family Practice, Primary care Medical services.
Project Description: At Mountain Family Health Centers the expanded access to primary care and increase to medical capacity continue to allow MFHC patients and the community to take advantage of a wide range of available services. The success of this expanded capacity was felt immediately during the 1st quarter of this two year grant, by accommodating 230 new patients, accounting for 593 duplicated encounters. Those 230 new patients were comprised of 130 uninsured, 54 chp + / Medicaid, 5 Medicare and 37 private insurance. Our success during the 2nd quarter of this two year grant was also apparent; MFHC was able to see 215 additional new patients, accounting for 583 duplicated encounters, keeping on pace to exceed our projected goals. The 215 new patients were comprised of 137 uninsured, 41chp + / Medicaid, 7 Medicare and 30 private insurance. We have been able to maintain appointment availability for our new patients within 7 days, wells within 8 days, new patient physicals within 9 days and same day appointments continue to be scheduled as needed. Our plans to open Saturday clinic in September have been moved back to January 2010 as we explore new opportunities to redesign our current medical footprint to better accommodate demand and flow.
