Award Description: Recovery AmeriCorps members primarily provide employment and skills training. Service activities include providing job readiness trainings such as résumé writing, interview and communication skills; assisting clients in employment searches; conducting individual goal setting meetings with students, and following-up with students in the process of achieving these goals; and assisting students in researching training program and higher education opportunities. The Recovery members serve in Pittsburgh, PA (Allegheny County), San Diego, CA (San Diego County), Washington, DC (District of Columbia), and New Orleans, LA (Jefferson, Orleans, and St Bernard Parishes).
Project Description: 29 Recovery AmeriCorps members will provide 350 clients with employment and skills training and counseling; provide 10,000 hours of tutoring to adult students and recruit 200 community volunteers.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained 27 AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and reatined 1 AmeriCorps staff position. (Total jobs reported: 28)
