Award Description: This award funds the approved ARRA AmeriCorps competitive program that focuses on activities related to amployment training and food pantry assistance.
Project Description: AmeriCorps Members were deployed in teams to State Career Centers to provide job seekers with internet training and on-line application support, career planning and interviewing workshops, one-on-one mentoring, and to provide employers with prescreening, job-matching services and facilitation of job fairs. There will be an increase of 15% in food processed by volunteers and a 15% increase in meals provided by food drives from two AmeriCorps members who will serve as volunteers and food drive specialists.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained 20 AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and retained 1 AmeriCorps staff positions. (Total jobs reported: 18)
