Award Description: Recovery WA Commission Formula Prime Grant for ARRA AmeriCorps programs to carryout a national service program as authorized by the National and Community Service Act and the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These service activities initiated by the Recovery WA Commission Formula subrecipients include: Employment and Skills Training programs; Housing Rehabilitation and Access including weatherization and energy efficiency projects for low income, disabled or homeless individuals; Home Foreclosure and Housing Assistance; Help with Employment and Skills Training; Financial Literacy Assistance; Healthcare Access; Volunteer Generation and Management; and Non-Profit Capacity Building.

Project Description: During the quarter, AmeriCorps members have actively been engaged in providing tutoring and literacy activities to K-12 youth; provided training on housing access and assistance for low-income tennants; and received training in topics related to housing rehabilitation, energy efficiency and weatherization. During the course of the program year, expected annual outcomes of Recovery WA Commission Formula subrecipients include: 310 low-income and disabled individuals will receive Housing Rehabilitation services including assistance with weatherization and energy efficiency projects; 430 low-income individuals will receive assistance in Home Foreclosure and Housing Assistance through financial counseling, rent assistance, and other means to help keep families in their homes; 325 Individuals will receive Employment and Job Skill Training including Financial Literacy; 200 Individuals will receive Healthcare Access Information; Non-Profit Capacity Building will show an increase in participation by 15%; 150 students will be provided 8,750 hours of Tutoring/Literacy Assistance; and 100 Volunteers will be recruited for tutoring and housing projects.
