Award Description: AmeriCorps Recovery Grants were awarded to lead agencies currently operating an AmeriCorps grant. Recovery Funds were used to (1) expand AmeriCorps Members to provide services in critical areas of need brought on by economic hardships and/or (2) match replacement for lead agencies that lost match source of funding and could not meet required match levels. The sub grantee recieving reimbursement this quarter was AmeriCorps Putnam Reads. The program provides tutoring/literacy services to elementary aged students who have tested below appropriate grade level in reading.
Project Description: For this quarter, One program, AmeriCorps Putnam Reads recieved Recovery funds. The AmeriCorps Putnam Reads program utilized AmeriCorps Members to provide tutoring and literacy services to students needing intervention in order to realize academic success. AmeriCorps Putnam Reads Members serve in low performing schools and tutored 50 students this quarter who are identified as having academic performance levels at least one grade below their appropriate level.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we retained one AmeriCorps staff position. Due to Recovery funding, we retained 23 AmeriCorps Member positions. (Total jobs reported: 1)
