Award Description: This award funds the approved ARRA AmeriCorps Formula programs that focus on activities related to volunteer generation; forest conservation and preservation; homebuilding; family literacy; community capacity and renewal; and, dropout prevention.
Project Description: Recovery Act programs focus on strengthening Arizona communities through volunteer generation with a focus on youth involvement. ARRA funds also supported forest conservation and preservation; homebuilding; family literacy; dropout prevention; and, community capacity building. Forty (40) AmeriCorps members served Coconino, Maricopa and Pima Counties alongside of 107 community volunteers. Nineteen thousand, three hundred and thirty six hours (19,336) hours of combined AmeriCorps member and leveraged volunteer service hours were contributed to Coconino, Maricopa and Pima Counties though variety of nonprofit and governmental organizations.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained 8.00 of AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and retained 3.80 of AmeriCorps staff positions. (Total jobs reported: 12)
