Award Description: Recovery funds are going to support the Central Dallas Ministries emergency support programs and also upscale the current neighborhood revitalization program. Emergency support programs include providing food to families, hot meals to homeless individuals and case management services to individuals. The revitalization program intensely helps residents in a 10 block area of South Dallas Texas. This program will create a significant impact by placing over 100 members in service and in the hiring of additional staff. Members will be involved in mapping the targeted neighborhood, solidifying neighborhood support, building holding houses, and analyzing the reconstruction and weatherization needs of over 200 homes. Additionally, jobs will be created from home construction, repair, weatherization, in energy-efficiency upgrades.
Project Description: 18 members have provided food to 2,441 families (6,846 individuals), provided daily hot meals to over 400 homeless individuals, and provided case management services to 122 individuals.
Jobs Summary: Due to Recovery funding, we created and retained the equivalent of 10.87 jobs. This is broken down into 18 AmeriCorps member positions. These members provided the activities described in the project description section. We also created and retained 3 AmeriCorps staff positions. (Total jobs reported: 11)
