Award Description: Title: ARRA Supplemental Funding for the Child Care Development Fund (CCDF). Description: Provide child care financial assistance to low-income working families and fund activities to improve the quality of child care.
Project Description: 1. Assisting child care providers to inventory training needs. Career guidance staff added and workplans being developed through the Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) system. 2. Regionally based grants program for child care providers for professional development, learning environment, health and safety improvements. Grant rounds in process, statewide. 3. Language Access Lines to the CCR&R system to ensure non-English-speaking families and providers access services and information. Direct line provided in Hmong, Spanish, and Somali and coordination of multi-language line. 4. Quality Improvement Supports to Quality Rating System (QRS) participants. Process and procedures established and payments underway. 5. Scholarships and bonus incentives to child care providers. Administrative procedures in place and information distributed statewide. 6. Curriculum and Assessment materials made available to providers statewide through CCR&R system. 7. Business supports and technical assistance to QRS participating providers. All jobs retained for this project. 8. Supports for early childhood practitioners’ professional development. Advisory Committee formed, curriculum writer identified and training registry and core curriculum staff hired. 9. Established initiative to assist providers seeking national accreditation. Twenty applications received; programs being assessed for accreditation readiness. 10. Training CCR&R staff on Environmental Rating Scales. Training completed for statewide baseline CCR&R staff. 11. Outreach and improvement supports for family, friend and neighbor informal child care providers. Five projects are continuing. 12. Provide child care financial assistance to low-income working families and families on the waiting list. Administrative funds to support new program payment models designed to meet the needs of working families and their children.
