Award Description: COLA funds for staff salary adjustments and fringe benefits for Head Start staff and other shared staff who support the Head Start department administrative functions. Quality Improvement funds for Head Start Education and Family development staff to improve the compensation, including benefits, of educational personnel and family service workers. Quality Improvement funds to accommodate new educational requirements for eight Teacher Assistants to obtain either an Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education. Quality Improvement funds for Hispanic language proficiency development open to all Head Start staff. Quality Improvement funds for at least 15 Head Start staff to attend workshops and seminars that will enhance the qualifications of staff to promote the language, literacy and developmental growth of Head Start children. Quality Improvement funds for Head Start Agency staff for increased compensation (wages and fringes) to improve the compensation level of staff as part of efforts to improve the level of Head Start programs.
Project Description: Provided 88 employees with a cost of living adjustment of 5.4% (10.79% complete). Provided tuition and book reimbursement toward one Teaching Assistant's Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education (12% complete). Accommodated four staff member's participation in a Home Based Institute seminar (26% complete). TOTAL PERCENTAGE COMPLETE: 12.49%
