Award Description: HEADSTART/EARLY HEADSTART ARRA COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT (COLA) AND QUALAITY IMPROVEMENT FUNDING CONSISTENT WITH THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 640(a)(5) of the Headstart Act
Project Description: HS ARRA COLA AND QUALITY FUNDS WILL BE USED TO: *Provide professional develoopment to teaching staff to improve staff qualifications *Increase the compensation and benefits of staff through a cost of living adjdustment to improve the overall quality of the program *to replace broken and outdated equipment in our kitchens and transportation department *Repair the roof at center in Hurtsboro, al *Repair parking lot at center in Opelika, Al. QUARTERLY ACTIVITIES: *Hired six teachers/aids to fill in for teachers and second persons in classrooms so classroom staff can attend college classes leading to degree or certificate *20 staff (teachers and second persons in the classrooms) have begun school to attain certification or degrees, six of which have already received financial help with ARRA funds *Bids have been received on the transportation and kitchen equipment and work has begun on the grease trap *Bids have been received on the roof repair and work has begun their also
