Award Description: 09 ARRA 5307 Skagit Station Rehabilitation and 2 Park and Rides. Invest in public transportation by constructing and rehabilitating transportation infrastructure facilities to support public transportation use in Skagit County Washington. South Mount Vernon Park and Ride in Skagit County, Washington - This project will use $294,274 federal for design/engineering to include; Preliminary design, final design and construction management services. South Mount Vernon Park and Ride, is a new facility that includes 350+ parking stalls and a bus island, this facility will also serve as a local and commuter bus service transfer point, located along Interstate 5. March's Point Park and Ride in Skagit County, Washington. This project will use $200,000 federal for rehabilitation and enhancement to include removal of existing parking bumpers and perimeter markers, paving of parking area and reconfiguration of the bus island to accomodate increased bus traffic. This facility is utilized by two transit agencies as a transfer point for local and commuter bus services.
Project Description: This grant has allowed the transit agency to bring the design and engineering of the South Mount Vernon Park and Ride from 60% complete to 100% completion. The construction bid advertisement and construction contract award were completed, and construction management services began on September 14, 2009. This grant has also allowed the March's Point Park and Ride design and engineering services to be brought to 90% completion. As a result of these investments, the transit agency is able to offer safe, convenient facilities for the public to park and ride by either vanpool, carpool or bus, thereby reducing congestion, and greenhouse gas emissions.
Jobs Summary: The type of jobs worked which were ARRA funded this quarter were civil engineering, landscaping architect, project administration and management and contracting.
