Award Description: The purpose of the project funded by the the Recovery Act Award is to reduce energy consumption and costs by replacing inefficient gas heating furnaces and window air-conditioners with Energy Star Certified high efficiency central HVAC systems in 33 low-income conventional public housing dwelling units. Project Description: The purpose of the project funded by the the Recovery Act Award is to reduce energy consumption and costs by replacing inefficient gas heating furnaces and window air-conditioners with Energy Star Certified high efficiency central HVAC systems in 33 low-income conventional public housing dwelling units. It is expected that energy consumption and costs will be reduced by the completion of this project. During the first quarter, project specifications and a bid package were completed, bids were solicited and a contract was awarded for $233,204.40. The $181,283 ARRA Grant will fund 77.74% of the project. The contract was signed on September 1, 2009. Work activity on the project started on September 11, 2009.
