Award Description: Invest in public transportation by purchasing 2 new 35 ft. low floor buses and rehabilitating a train station canopy to serve as an intermodal transit facility.
Project Description: This grant allows us to replace two buses that met their useful life expectancy. We have purchased 2 low floor 35 foot Gillig Corporation buses utilizing $654,196 of our grant. Additionally by rehabilitating the transit canopy and creating an intermodal transit facility the congestion of our current transit interchange is alleviated, and will allow for a central location for commuters taking buses for various routes, while also providing additional shelter and safety. No grant money has been expended on this project within our ARRA budget.
Jobs Summary: With our bus purchase manufacturing jobs will be created. We expect delivery in March 2010. We will report the jobs created when the buses arrive. We expect job creation in the construction of our intermodal transit facility as well, and can report those numbers when the project goes out to bid. (Total jobs reported: 0)
