Award Description: PREPARATION OF AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT FOR FLOOD CONTROL IMPROVEMENTS TO THE ARROYO COLORADO FLOODWAY
Project Description: Preparation of an Environmental Assessment (EA) of improvements to a flood control levee system operated by the USIBWC in south Texas (Cameron and Willacy Counties). No construction work was conducted. The work entailed completion of four technical tasks (per Government?s RFP 09-19, Contract IBM04D0002, received March 24, 2009): (1) Planning, Scoping, and Reviews, i.e. prepared a checklist of all environmental compliance requirements to be satisfied before execution of the project. (2) Field Studies and Reports, i.e. identified opportunities and developed a mitigation plan for any and all resources negatively affected by the proposed project;. (3) Consultation, Permits and Approvals, i.e. coordinated with the THC for compliance with Section 106 and 110 of the National Historic Preservation Act during the NEPA process, and consultation with Native American Tribes. (4) National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Review Process, i.e. Completed a preliminary Draft EA for USIBWC and other federal and state resource agencies review;
