Award Description: To develop a statement of work for the repair and alteration of the Pierre Federal Office Building to replace the exisiting curtain wall system and repair basement water infiltration issues. There will be construction management services and the project is to be design-build. The Federal Building is located in the City of Pierre, South Dakota. Built in 1965 with a poured concrete basement and pre-formed concrete panels is a design prevalent in Government buildings of that era, the building was originally constructed to provide operational space for the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. District Courts, and Various Federal agencies in the community. It continues to be used in this manner to this date. The building has four floors and a basement, stands approximately 73 feet tall, has one passenger elevator and on freight elevator. Past assessments by GSA recommend replacement of the existing exterior curtain wall system. Remove existing windows, granite spandrel panels and vertical aluminum fins. Install rigid insulation in spandrel locations. Install new curtain wall systems, using high performance glazing and insulated spandrel glass panels.
