Award Description: The B&W Y-12 ARRA program will accomplish environmental and infrastructure work scope over the next two years by reducing the risks from Cold War legacies and furthering Y-12's physical transformation. Demolition of approximately 150,000 square feet of contaminated surplus facilities is planned and 79,109 cubic meters of waste is planned for disposal.
Project Description: The B&W Y-12 ARRA program will accomplish a environmental and infrastructure work scope over the next two years by reducing the risks from Cold War legacies and furthering Y-12's physical transformation. Demolition of approximately 150,000 square feet of contaminated surplus facilities is planned and 79,109 cubic meters of waste is planned for disposal. The B&W Y-12 ARRA program had plans and structures in place to begin work execution on the first day funds were received. An Independent Project Review of the Biology Complex D&D project and Program Reviews for all other ARRA projects was performed by HQ on August 3-7. Approval of Critical Decision 2/3 was received in September from EM-1. To date, 2,133 cubic meters of waste has been disposed.
Jobs Summary: B&W Y-12 ARRA funding has resulted in 567 FTE positions being created or saved. Those job types include Management, Technical, Business, Administrative, and Trade/Craft positions.
