Award Description: Conduct modernization activities at various Public Housing Developments. This funding can be expected to result in providing employment for construction workers and product manufacturers. In addition, this funding can be expected to substantially modernize public housing units and includes the construction of a new community building / laundry room in this jurisdiction.
Project Description: Project activities completed to date at various public housing properties include: (1) window replacement, (2) electrical upgrade, (3) shed roof replacement, (4) carpet / flooring replacement, (5) water heater replacement, (6) wall heater replacement, (7) windows / doors / flooring replacement, and (8) exterior door replacement. In addition, a new community building/laundry room and parking lot will be constructed in Goleta.
Jobs Summary: ARRA funding has resulted in the creation of one (1) part time administrative personnel to assist in management of the grant. In addition, ARRA funded contracts has resulted in two full time (2) electrical jobs being retained and the re-hiring of three (3) laid off carpenters who were able to return to work full time. (Total jobs reported: 6)
