Award Description: ARRA - Capital Improvement Program
Project Description: The CIP projects included implementation of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system that incorporates a new Practice Management System, a new Accounting System and a new Electronic Medical Records System. This will increase patient flow and provider productivity. The new system will replace our current out-dated system that will improve patient flow, reporting, efficiencies and decision making. Initially funding was also requested for the completion of Phase I, Architectural, Design and Land preparation for the construction of a new medical facility in Columbus, Georgia. On July 23, we requested a change in scope of project. We requested that funding for the construction project for Columbus be eliminated and funding reprogrammed to support the renovation and expansion project of our current rural health satellite facility in Talbot County, Georgia. The project would relocate medical services into the same building as dental services, creating a one-stop shop for patients. The renovation and expansion of the Dental center to incorporate Medical will also create economies of scale, eliminating the need to continue renting space in a different facility. Valley Healthcare owns the Dental Center facility. The request is still under review. We received a transmission of a NGA issued on 9/25/09, lifting two conditions for the EHR System Implementation that included our submission of an EID Checklist and completion of an EHR Readiness Checklist giving us the go ahead for this project. Licenses have been purchases and agreements have been signed with the EHR vendor, eClinicalWorks and an implementation schedule is being developed by their Project Manager. A kick-off call is being schedule for the week of October 12. The kick-off meeting with the accounting software vendor, MIP Fund Accounting was completed in during the week of September 28, 2009
