Award Description: The overall purpose of the ARRA-CIP funds will be used to purchase a certified Electronic Health Record system and related equipment. By the end of the funding period, June 2011, Ke Ola Mamo (KOM) will have implemented a certified Electronic Health Record for use by all departments. In doing so, KOM will have replaced 7 data systems, including a practice management system, clinical tracking system, e-prescribing and external billing system. The long term goal is to (1) improve health services, including scheduling, patient visits, and documentation; (2) patient revenue including billint, and (3) reporting including the annual Uniform Data Set (UDS), chronic disease tracking, tobacco use, patient demographics and claims.
Project Description: The overall purpose of the ARRA-CIP funds will be used to purchase a certified Electronic Health Record system and related equipment. Within the first three months of funding, Ke Ola Mamo (KOM) responded to the award conditions and met with the vendor to finalize the contract to purchase and implement the EHR system. In addition, KOM evaluated equipment needs, workflow and established an EHR committee. KOM anticipates purchasing their equipment during the next reporting period as well as training employees on the new system. A tentative 'go live' date has been identified for early January 2010. KOM will initially bring on their medical practice and clinical services department. Further discussion is needed to evaluate the appropriateness of other departments utilizing the documentation section of the software.
