Award Description: ARRA- Capital Improvement Program
Project Description: GCHC purchased medical equipment as would be submitted in the proposed CIP project. It acquired two EKG machines were located in two important areas to our center. One EKG machine was destined for emergency room and the other to SIVIF program. The electrocardiogram is an important tool for cardiac evaluation of our users. An electrocardiogram provides to our primary care physicians a study to identify pathologies and / or heart conditions that could affect our users. In addition to this equipment 5 diagnostic set were acquired and distributed as follows: 3 for the emergency room area and 2 for OPD clinics. The diagnostic equipment is a basic tool used by physicians for a physical examination of patients, allows us to assess the ear, nose and throat comprehensively. There were 6 biohazard containers and were distributed in the following sites: 2 for Trujillo Alto, 1 Gurabo / OPD, 3 Gurabo / emergency room. The use of biohazard containers allow us to have a safe place destined for disposal of contaminated material, complying with patient safety measures established by federal regulatory agencies.
