Award Description: ARRA provided funding for Home-Delivered Services. Established in 1978 under the Older Americans Act, the program provides meals to seniors who are homebound.
Project Description: ARRA funding for Home-Delivered Nutrition Services will augment existing resources, replace revenue lost from local sources due to the economic downturn, and support the continued delivery of meals to vulnerable older Americans. Home-delivered meals help seniors to maintain their health and avoid hospitalization and nursing home placement.
Jobs Summary: The types of jobs retained and/or created were site cooks, assistant cooks and site managers. These funds helped the 7 Area Agencies on Aging in Minnesota continue to deliver meals to homebound seniors. Without the funds, meals delivered to seniors living in remote areas might have been discontinued because the cost of delivering meals would have been cost prohibitive. Home-delivered meals help seniors maintain health and live in their communities. (Total jobs reported: 3)
Project Status: More than 50% Completed
